Getting Started with Bovisen

This guide walks you through setting up your gateway, activating your ear tags, and accessing your herd data on the Bovisen dashboard.

How the System Works

Each Bovisen ear tag continuously monitors your cattle's core body temperature in real time. Health data is transmitted wirelessly from the tags to your gateway, then automatically synced to the Bovisen cloud dashboard — accessible from any device.

Key Facts

Wireless range: Up to 5 miles between tags and gateway. Range may vary based on terrain and obstructions.

Update frequency: Every 6 hours during normal health. Every 1 hour if an issue is detected.

Gateway Setup

Set up your gateway before activating any tags. It only takes a few minutes.

    Power on the gateway at least 5 minutes before activating any tags.

  2. 2

    Connect to 110v power using the adapter provided.

  3. 3

    Hand-tighten the antenna — this is required for maximum wireless coverage.

  4. 4

    No Wi-Fi or network connection needed — the gateway has built-in LTE.

  5. 5

    Mount up high for best range: on top of a desk, shelf, or wall.

Indoor use only. Evaluation kit gateways are not waterproof and must be installed indoors. Do not expose to rain or moisture.

Tag Activation & Installation

Step 1 — Power On

Hold the magnet against the tag near the “U” magnet symbol until the LED flashes. The tag is now on and ready to install.

Step 2 — Install the Tag

    Use an AllFlex tagger (not supplied) and the standard button (2 provided).

  2. 2

    Insert the temperature probe into the ear canal.

  3. 3

    Tag through the ear 1.5″ to 2.5″ from the ear canal.

Bovisen Dashboard

You should have received an email invitation to access the Bovisen application. Log in at demo.bovisen.com to view your herd.

All tags visible

Once activated, all tags appear automatically on the Bovisen dashboard — no manual registration required.

Tag identification

The number printed on the physical tag matches the tag description shown in the dashboard.
